See the Method in Action

A practical example of how pattern-based thinking replaces rote memorization.

Technique

Multiplying by 11

Instead of memorizing tables, students learn a repeatable pattern they can apply to any two-digit number.

23 × 11 = 253

Add the digits (2 + 3 = 5) and place the sum between the original digits.

This approach helps children see mathematics as a system of patterns — not a list of facts to memorize.

Practice problem

Apply the same method: 42 × 11 = ?

Solution: 4 + 2 = 6, placed in the middle → 462.
